Graffonic, Andre Rangel and Anne-Kathrin Siegel, PT
Graffonic is a generative and responsive video installation, which uses real-time capture, to allow users to tag and bomb a public or indoor space.
Developed by Portuguese artists, André Rangel and Anne-Kathrin Siegel, the work has been created using a video sign analysis system, which captures user’s movements and translates them using various algorithms, so they can be read by the computer. The outcome of this process, is a generative design, which captures the aesthetics of a persons movement, in real-time.
The first version of this installation was presented at the University of Barcelona, Jully 2006 and at Politecnico de Milano University, December 2006. The current RGB version was presented at oPorto and Estremoz, Portugal in July and August 2007, and San Francisco in April 2008. Graffonic will be presented at Largo do Século, on 20 June after 23.00
